my cousin is a married man!

we went to arizona. over new year's. to see my cousin get married to his beautiful and super sweet fiancée. it was a beautiful day, and a beautiful wedding. here's a little bit of it:

we had tons of fun the week we were there. lots of family time. celebrated new years, celebrated luke & my 4th anniversary. we played apples to apples. some played poker. we soaked up the sun. we stayed up late and told ghost stories. mateo had some major stranger/separation anxiety. we ate mexican food. we shopped. played with a new little puppy. we bump-ed it. had a manicure night. made the martha stewart poofs. brushed our teeth together. and we started a new family tradition that i hope is here to stay: forming a happy tunnel with our arms to see people off. :) i love my family.

mom & baby yoga 3rd(!) session

so we did end up attending the 3rd yoga session after all. (thank you sweet husband of mine!) we finished in december, but with the craziness of the holidays, i forgot to mention it. can't believe how much he's changed since i took these photos of him at the end of our first session.

i know i've said it before, but this session was *really* our last. his army-crawl abilities/curiosity make it a lot harder to keep him in one place now. so grateful we were able to enjoy 5 months of class together. hoping we'll continue at home.

class info here and here, if you're interested.

why they travel

some people in our lives are doing some pretty amazing things these days!:
  • i've mentioned our dear friends jason and heather before. they have been living a "seasonally nomadic" lifestyle for years, traveling from city to city, country to country, and circumnavigating the globe. always telling people about Jesus. always listening to where God wants them to go. this time, God called them to india and israel! and this time, much to our happiness, they've decided to share it with us through their new blog, Yellah. click here to follow along.
  • an old coworker/friend/neighbor of mine in phoenix (who happens to be an amazing writer) recently married his girlfriend (who happens to be an amazing photographer). they have decided to quit their jobs and travel across the usa for their honeymoon. with their dogs. for a year. i'm already completely hooked on their posts about their journey. click here to start from the beginning. (warning: once you start reading you might not be able to stop.)
wishing you all meaningful moments and happy trails ahead. thanks for sharing with us. i'm totally on a travel high already.

why we travel

not sure how i missed this when it was first published, but the times came out with a new (and nostalgic, and inspiring) slideshow with commentary called "why we travel". i got lost in it with a cup of coffee and a sleeping baby in my lap. enjoy.

r & m's wedding

we had such a great time at r & m's wedding. they were super fun and up for anything. their friends and family felt like our friends and family. and they had such a great style. it was the perfect wedding to end the summer.

the girls got ready in a loft in old town, and we later walked over to the venue at p2.

they bridal party was super fun - i've never laughed so much at a wedding. we want to be their friends in real life.

um, i mentioned their style, right?

their reception was held in the greenhouse behind them

so gorgeous together

the very spot where he proposed:

at the end of the night, just when you think they couldn't be any cooler, they surprised everyone with a hot dog stand. with regular and vegetarian hot dogs.

congrats, you guys! thanks for letting us be a part of your day! (and for the hot dogs!)

s & p's wedding

more summer-happy-in-love images on this cold gray winter day in michigan. these are just a few shots of s & p's wedding. they were married in the alumni chapel on campus.

if you look closely, you might be able to spot luke in this one:

from here on out, all images are of them. we could show you the cake, the friends, the family, the reception details. but really, it's all about them. they're beautiful. and they love each other.

this is one of our favorite parts of shooting weddings: immediately after the ceremony, just the couple and the two of us, being invited into such a private moment, documenting it.
