I've heard it can be a real pain to go through security so maybe get there super early. Wear Mateo in a baby carrier so you have your hands free (you still have to put the carrier through the x-ray machine though). I've also heard it helps if the baby is sucking on a bottle during takeoff to help his ears pop.
I second the sling/baby carrier. Even though you have to remove it for take off (explain that to me...don't you think your baby is safer strapped to you? I do...) Anyways, he'll do fine since he's so young. Once he gets fussy, nurse him and his ears will pop and he'll probably fall asleep a lot as well. You're lucky that he's so young because it's not like he's at an age where he wants to run around like a crazy person. :) Good luck!
Yup! Sling and nursing or paci work like a charm. Helpful strangers on the plane always want to hold a cute baby if you need to use the restroom, etc. (And since you're on a plane, they cannot go anywhere with your baby, i.e. kidnap). ;) This offer ends once they start walking and turn rowdy, so take advantage while you can. You'll do fabulous, Momma!!
I would definitely bring a pacifier along! It will save you from having to nurse the whole time...and make him a happy little guy. :) Have a safe trip - wish you were coming to NE!! xoxoxo
